Fishing charters in Malta

Boats their operators run as fishing trips — trolling, bottom fishing and offshore. Malta's calendar matters more than most: lampuki (dorado) run from late summer into autumn and are the season most local boats build around, while amberjack and dentex fish through the cooler months.

Before you book

You do not need your own licence

On an organised charter you are covered by the boat's own commercial fishing licence. There is no personal permit for a visitor to apply for.

Bluefin tuna is the exception

Bluefin is tightly regulated and recreational bluefin fishing is normally catch-and-release under a separate permit, with retention only inside a short controlled season. If taking a fish home matters to you, ask the operator before you book rather than on the day.

Other ways to charter

Enquiries go straight to the operator, who confirms availability and the final price with you directly.

Ask AIAnswers from the boats we list. It cannot check dates.
