San Blas Bay

Ramla's smaller neighbour — the same red sand, a punishing walk down, and almost nobody on it.
San Blas is round the headland east of Ramla and has the same rust-red sand, on a much smaller scale. The difference is the approach. From land it is a very steep concrete track down through terraced fields, and a considerably worse climb back up in the afternoon — which is precisely why the beach is empty when Ramla is not.
From the water none of that applies. It is a straightforward stop in settled weather, and it is the clearest example on Gozo of what a boat actually buys you: the same beach as everybody else, without the part that puts everybody else off.
Small, undeveloped, and exposed to the north like the rest of this coast.
