Santa Marija Bay
Comino's other beach — sand, tamarisk trees and room to anchor, on the side of the island the ferries do not serve.
Santa Marija is on the north coast, which on Comino means the side nobody is dropped at. The ferry runs to the Blue Lagoon; walking over to Santa Marija takes a while in the heat and most day-trippers do not bother. The result is a sandy bay with trees behind it and a fraction of the crowd, twenty minutes' walk from one of the busiest places in the country.
For a boat it is the practical answer to the Blue Lagoon problem. You can anchor here without a buoy, the holding is sand, and there is space. Trips that want lunch and a swim without the traffic often take this instead and it is worth asking for by name.
There are old wartime shelters cut into the rock behind the beach, and a small chapel. Comino is a bird sanctuary, so the quiet is partly the point and partly the law.
